Would You Have Done This?

Is this the ultimate sign of sportsmanship or did this guy blow it? I guess there was a triathlon in Spain recently and one guy was cruising to a 3rd place finish. Well at the very end of the race he took a wrong turn allowing another runner to pass him. The guy decided to slow up and let the runner who went the wrong way pass him and finish 3rd. When asked about it, he said it was wrong, that the guy was in front of him the whole race. I hear ya and I applaud the guy for doing that. But isn't that part of the race? If you make a mistake then it can cost you. If your team is ahead the entire game and you fumble right at the end and they return it for a touchdown to win, that is part of the game. So I'm a little torn on this. What would you have done?
